Donna Joanne Price Heinz stood about 5'3" and was a petite and beautiful bride. Mom and Dad were married on the same day that Mom graduated- Friday the 13th of June. They walked under a ladder, in front of a black cat, broke a mirror and a number of other things to dispel the thought of being supersticious. We have a wonderful cartoon made by my mother's maternal aunt depicting the wedding time in her family.( See cartoon by Gladys Crane Houser) Mom has had to live alone since Dad died. On this date ( May 1995) she lives alone in the home they moved into one month before I was born (Dec. 1949). Mom lived with her parents while dad was in the service. Joanne was 2 years old when Dad came home and Don was a little baby. Dad learned of Don's birth while he was on board ship. Don looks and acts so much like dad, it is fun to visit him, because he makes me think of my dad. Mom was always busy with community activities. A very social person. She taught herself to play the piano and had a terrific voice that could range from nearly bass to high soprano. She loves music and though her voice doesn't do well anymore for long choir singing, she sang for over 40-50 years in the Harbor Springs Presbyterian choir. She loves the outdoors and is still a very dramatic person. She loved being in plays, which she came by naturally. She was on a bowling league for years until arthritis became too bothersome. She also golfed with dad and then for many years on a women's league. Mom is still alive (May 1995) as is her mother. Grandma Price is 93 years old this year. Mom's address as of 1995 is
